Mohd Yadzil Yaakub
Mohd Yadzil bin Yaakub (born 14 April 1974) is a Malaysian medical doctor and politician from the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. He studied medicine at Udayana University in Bali, Indonesia.
He has been the Member of the Malacca State Legislative Assembly for Bemban since 20 November 2021. Since 13 December 2022, he has served as the Leader of the Opposition in Malacca.
Yadzil is the State Chairman of PN in Malacca (since January 2022) and the Division Chief of BERSATU for Jasin (since 2020). He previously served as the State Chairman of BERSATU Malacca (December 2021 to January 2025) and as the State Deputy Chairman of BERSATU Malacca and of PN Malacca in 2021–2022. He was the Election Director for PN in the 2021 Malacca state election.
He is one of three PN/ opposition MLAs in Malacca, along with Mohd Aleef Yusof and Muhammad Jailani Khamis. He won the Bemban seat in 2021 by defeating Wong Fort Pin of PH-DAP.
Beyond elected politics, Yadzil has been involved with GIEM since 2020 and with SME Corp Malaysia since 2021 as co-chair of the Innovation and Digitalisation Committee and as a corporation member. Earlier in his career, he served as the secretary of the Malacca branch of Koperasi Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia in 2019 and as a medical officer at Malacca Hospital from 2005 to 2009.
