Regular Show is an American animated comedy on Cartoon Network created by J. G. Quintel. It aired from September 6, 2010, to January 16, 2017. The show follows Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a raccoon, two 23-year-old best friends who work as park groundskeepers. They try to slack off and have fun, which often leads to surreal adventures. Their boss is Benson, a talking gumball machine, and their coworker Skips is a helpful yeti. The park owner is Mr. Maellard, and his son Pops has a lollipop-shaped head. Other workers, Muscle Man and Hi-Five Ghost, sometimes cause trouble for them.

Quintel had worked as a writer on Camp Lazlo and The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack before making a short for Cartoon Network’s showcase project The Cartoonstitute. He used characters from his student films The Naïve Man from Lolliland and 2 in the AM PM to create the Regular Show pilot. Although The Cartoonstitute project was canceled, Cartoon Network approved Regular Show for production and its first season.

Its first two seasons were big hits, ranking number one in its time period among its target audience. By 2013, the show drew about 2 to 2.5 million viewers each week. Critics praised its simple animation and humor that appeals to both kids and adults, with frequent nods to 1980s pop culture.

The series earned several awards and nominations, including four Primetime Emmy Award nominations and a win in 2012 for the season 3 episode Eggscellent. It was also nominated for Annie Awards and BAFTA Children’s Awards. A feature-length film, Regular Show: The Movie, premiered in 2015.

Regular Show ran for eight seasons and 244 episodes, ending on January 16, 2017, with the finale A Regular Epic Final Battle.

In June 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new project featuring some Regular Show characters, with Quintel returning as showrunner. The new project will take place in the future, where Mordecai and Rigby are rivals because of a past mistake. They try to fix things and save their friendship and the universe, facing challenges like a Timenado that disrupts space and time, pursued by their old volleyball coach Mr. Ross. The project will include new shorts tied to earlier seasons.
