Willis Blackshear Jr.
Willis Blackshear Jr. is a Democratic member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 6th district since January 1, 2025. He previously served in the Ohio House of Representatives for the 38th district from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2024. In 2020, he won the state House seat, defeating Republican John Ferrell Mullins III with about 79% of the vote. Before joining the House, he worked as an outreach specialist in the Montgomery County Auditor's Office. Blackshear announced his bid for the 6th Senate District in October 2023 and won the seat in November 2024. He serves on the Senate committees for Commerce and Labor, Criminal Justice, and Agriculture and Rural Development. He lives in Dayton, Ohio, and earned a BA in Political Science from Wright State University.
