1889 Yale Bulldogs football team
The 1889 Yale Bulldogs football team represented Yale University in the 1889 season. In Walter Camp’s second year as head coach, Yale went 15–1. The team shut out 12 opponents and outscored all opponents 659 to 31. Yale’s only loss came in the final game of the season, a 10–0 defeat by Princeton. Captain: Charles O. Gill. Home field: Yale Field. Three Yale players were named to the 1889 All-America team by Caspar Whitney: end Amos Alonzo Stagg, guard Pudge Heffelfinger, and tackle Charles O. Gill. Stagg and Heffelfinger are in the College Football Hall of Fame.
