Westminster Abbey Museum was in the 11th‑century vaulted undercroft beneath the old monks’ dormitory in Westminster Abbey, London. It is in one of the abbey’s oldest areas, built around 1065. The space has housed a museum since 1908. The collection includes royal funeral effigies, such as Henry V’s funeral saddle, helm and shield, plus medieval glass panels, 12th‑century sculpture fragments, Mary II’s coronation chair, and replicas of the coronation regalia. There are also effigies of Edward III, Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, Charles II, William III, Mary II, and Queen Anne. A late addition is the Westminster Retable, England’s oldest altarpiece from the late 13th century, likely designed for the abbey’s high altar; it was cleaned and conserved after past damage. The museum was closed and replaced by the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries in the triforium of the main abbey building.
