Voiceless labial–retroflex plosive
Voiceless labial–retroflex plosive is a rare consonant sound used in some languages, including Yele. It is produced by a single, simultaneous closure at the lips (a labial stop) and with the tongue curled back to make a retroflex stop, without vibrating the vocal cords (voiceless). The IPA symbol for this sound is ⟨ʈ͡p⟩, and it is also written as ⟨ṭ͡p⟩ in Para-IPA. In articulation charts, the symbols to the right are voiced and those to the left are voiceless, with shading often used to show impossible articulations. This is a brief explanation of the sound.
