Alvin William Nienow (1937–2022) was a British chemical engineer. He studied at University College London. He spent much of his career at the University of Birmingham, where he was an emeritus professor of biochemical engineering and led the School of Chemical Engineering from 1989 to 1999. He also worked with Aston University and Loughborough University, serving as a visiting professor and as an honorary professor. He was a fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the Royal Academy of Engineering. His research impact is shown by an h-index of 64 according to Scopus.
