FC Dallas’ 2011 season was their 16th. The team was owned by Clark Hunt, coached by Schellas Hyndman, and played home games at Pizza Hut Park. They tied the franchise record for most points in the regular season and made the playoffs for the second year in a row, but were eliminated in the wild-card round by the New York Red Bulls, 0–2.

In their first CONCACAF Champions League appearance, Dallas finished third in Group C, behind UNAM Pumas and Toronto FC. A historic moment came when the team became the first American club to defeat a Mexican side on Mexican soil in a meaningful competition, beating UNAM 1–0 in Mexico.

Dallas also reached the semifinals of the U.S. Open Cup. In pre-season and regional competitions, they won the WDW Pro Soccer Classic, the Brimstone Cup, and the Pioneer Cup.

Key players and moments included David Ferreira earning early-season form before suffering a season-ending ankle injury in April, Brek Shea signing a contract extension through 2015, and strong contributions from Fabian Castillo, Eric Avila, George John, and goalkeeper Kevin Hartman. Brek Shea’s late-season form helped keep the team competitive as they chased MLS success.

Attendance highlights at Pizza Hut Park included a high of 21,867 against Los Angeles Galaxy on May 1 and a low of 8,145 against Toronto FC on May 11, with an average home league attendance of 11,954.
