Vinayagapuram is a residential neighbourhood in north Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is part of Chennai district and governed by the Greater Chennai Corporation (Madhavaram Zone, Tondiarpet Division). The area is about 13 metres above sea level. The PIN code is 600099 and vehicle registration is TN-05.
Location and nearby areas:
It lies close to Perambur, Anna Nagar, Villivakkam, Puzhal, Jawahar Nagar, Thiru-vi-ka Nagar, Senthil Nagar, Madhavaram and Periyar Nagar. It is about 1 km from Retteri junction in Kolathur. A ring road near Lucas TVS junction is the main route, connecting to Padi, New Avadi Road, Ayanavaram High Road, Anna Nagar and Puzhal. It is near the Grand North Trunk road, which links to the Grand South Trunk road.

Vinayagapuram was brought under the Chennai Corporation in 2011, aiding its development.
Transport:
The MTC operates buses to Vinayagapuram from across the city. A bus terminal near the Vinayagapuram bus stand is planned. Bus routes include 142 to Perambur and 29 ext to Mandaveli. Small buses run between Vinayagapuram and Villivakkam. There is no railway line; auto-rickshaws are important for local travel.
Politics:
It falls in the Madhavaram Vidhan Sabha (state assembly) constituency and the North Chennai Lok Sabha (parliament) constituency.
