Veronique Doumbe
Veronique Doumbe is a Cameroonian and West Indian independent filmmaker based in New York City. She founded Ndolo Films and directed The Birthday Party (2009), which won the 2010 Berlin Black International Cinema Festival prize for Best Film or Video Depicting the Black Experience. Her other films include Quarter Life Crisis and Woman to Woman. Doumbe advocates for women filmmakers to reach audiences outside Hollywood, using new technologies and funding methods to expand opportunities. She is a member of Film Fatale, an organization that supports inclusive communities of women filmmakers. She was born in France and grew up in France, Cameroon, and the Ivory Coast; her mother is from Martinique and her father is from Cameroon. She has lived in the United States for over 35 years and resides in New York City.
