Sykes Garro
Sykes Al Garro (born 26 February 1993) is a Gibraltarian footballer who plays as a forward for Mons Calpe, wearing number 8.
Garro came through the Lions Gibraltar youth system and began his senior career with Lions Pilots, the club’s feeder team. He left Gibraltar in 2011 to study at Northumbria University, but in 2012 he signed again with Lions Gibraltar and stayed registered with them until 2014. He went on to make 36 appearances for Lions Gibraltar from 2012 to 2016, helping them finish fourth in the 2015–16 season.
In 2016 he joined Europa, making 32 appearances and scoring 5 goals over two seasons. He helped Europa win the Gibraltar Premier Division in 2016–17 and, after Liam Walker left, became a more regular starter in 2017–18, scoring 3 goals in 17 games as Europa finished second.
Garro moved to Lincoln Red Imps in 2018, then signed for St Joseph’s in 2019. He made his St Joseph’s debut against Rangers on 18 July 2019. He later played for Lions Gibraltar again (2022–2023) before joining Mons Calpe in 2023. By January 2024 he had made 17 appearances for Mons Calpe.
Internationally, Garro first played for Gibraltar’s development squad at the Island Games in 2015. He received his first call-up to the Gibraltar national team in November 2016 and made his senior debut on 13 November 2016 in a 3–1 defeat to Cyprus. He has 3 caps for Gibraltar.
