Plot:
Eight months after the apparent burial of her husband Dean, Cassie struggles to run her farm and care for her two daughters, Amy and Hannah. She hides a dark secret: Dean is not truly dead. Aden, an old friend of Dean, arrives to help and soon proves to be dangerous and controlling. Cassie resists a local farmer, Karsten, who wants to buy her farm, while Aden eliminates other threats, killing Karsten and his brother Noah.
As Hannah learns more about the abuse Cassie endured from Dean, the truth about Dean’s fate and his impact on the family comes to light. Dean had actually survived the burial and fled to the oil rigs, sharing his side of the story with Aden. Aden’s grip tightens on the family, and he locks Cassie and the girls in Hannah’s room at one point.
In the end, Cassie, Hannah, and Amy unite to outsmart Aden. They lure him to a slurry pit, where Amy pushes him in and Cassie lights a lighter, causing a methane explosion. Aden dies, and the three women survive, now together as a family.
