Caridina apodosis
Caridina apodosis is a freshwater shrimp in the family Atyidae. It is found only in a mountain stream near Tai Tong, Hong Kong, and is known from just the original specimens collected in 1994. The exact location is unknown and may have been lost to urban development. The species is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, and possibly extinct, under criteria B1ab(iii) and 2ab(iii). The main threat is water pollution from urbanization, which could have made its habitat unsuitable. It was named Caridina apodosis by Cai and N.K. Ng in 1999.
