Peter Armstrong (journalist)
Peter Armstrong is a Canadian radio and television journalist for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). He is CBC News’s economics reporter and previously hosted the business show On the Money on CBC News Network, which ended on June 28, 2018.
Born in Oakville, Ontario, he is the son of journalist Sally Armstrong. He studied at Acadia University and Université Laval. Armstrong began his CBC career in radio in Quebec City and later worked in Saint John, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver. In 2006 he served as CBC’s bureau chief in Jerusalem, in the Middle East. He returned to Canada in 2009 to anchor CBC Radio One’s World Report and has also worked in the network’s sports division.
Armstrong has won awards including the RTNDA Best Newscast in 2012 and the Golden Nymph for best TV news item at the Monte Carlo TV Festival in 2008. He is married to fellow CBC journalist Piya Chattopadhyay, whom he met while both were at CBC.
