Strategic Study of CAE
Strategic Study of CAE (Chinese: 中国工程科学) is an official academic journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). Founded in 1999 in Beijing, it is published every two months by China Engineering Science Press, with support from CAE’s Center for Strategic Studies and the Chinese Higher Education Press. The journal focuses on strategic engineering research and shares findings from major science and engineering projects, serving as a platform for CAE’s consultancy work.
The journal is regarded as a national core publication and is indexed in Ei Compendex, CSCD, and DOAJ, among others. It has earned several recognitions: it was listed in the first batch of academic journals recognized by the former Chinese authorities in 2014, selected for the “echelon journals” category in Phase I of the Excellence Action Plan for China’s STM journals in 2019, named one of China’s 100 Outstanding Academic Journals for 2022 (recognized in 2023), and entered Phase II of the Excellence Action Plan in 2024. In 2025, it was added to the Ei Compendex database.
The journal highlights that over 30% of its authors are academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences or the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and about 52% are research fellows or professors. It is also indexed in additional databases such as Scopus, JSTOR, NLM, LCCN, and MIAR.
