Guevara, also known as Gebara in Basque, is a small hamlet and concejo in Barrundia, Álava, in Spain’s Basque Country. It sits on the banks of the Zadorra river and covers about 3.11 square kilometers. In 2023 it had 64 residents and an elevation of 551 meters. The town’s origins are unclear; some old names mentioned by ancient geographers may refer to Gebara, but the first clear records come from the 11th century about the counts of Oñati.

In the late Middle Ages Gebara was an important fortress for the Ladrón de Guevara family, and a castle was built on a hill above the village. The castle was destroyed in the First Carlist War. The Tower-palace of Guevara lies at the foot of the hill near the Church of the Assumption.

The Brotherhood of Guevara once administered Gebara together with Elgea, Etura, and Urizar. In the 19th century, the brotherhood became a municipality, but in 1887 Gebara was merged into Barrundia. The postal code is 01206.
