Thet Thet Wai is a Burmese professional bodybuilder and activist, also known as Bora. She was born on February 16, 1996, and earned a degree in business management in 2016. She is known for calling for tougher penalties for rape. After a young girl was raped and murdered in Madaya in February 2018, she helped push for justice and signed a petition asking Myanmar’s parliament to impose the death penalty on rapists. She became a public figure in the campaign called “Death to Rapists.” In June, a motion to impose the death penalty for child rapists was brought to Myanmar’s House of Representatives. The vote was close, with more than a third in favor, and Parliament began drafting a separate law to address violence against women and children. She is about 152 cm tall.
