Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski
Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski, sometimes called Tasomix Rosiek Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski for sponsorship, is a Polish professional basketball team from Ostrów Wielkopolski. They play in the Polish Basketball League (PLK), Poland’s top league, and have been in the PLK since 2015 after earning promotion from the I Liga. The team’s colors are blue, gold, and white, and they play home games at Arena Ostrów, which seats about 3,000 people (the arena opened in 2020). Their main sponsor is Arged.
Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski has won several titles: the Polish League championship in 2021, the Polish Cup in 2019 and 2022, and the Polish Super Cup. They also won the European North Basketball League (ENBL), giving them their first international trophy. In European competition, they reached the Final Four of the FIBA Europe Cup in the 2020–21 season and finished the year by losing the final to Ironi Ness Ziona.
In 2022, head coach Andrzej Urban took charge, and the club began focusing more on European players, bringing in players such as Aigars Šķēle, Ojārs Siliņš, and Nemanja Đurišić. The club was founded in 1947 and has grown into a strong presence in Polish and European basketball.
