Caroline Chariot-Dayez (born September 11, 1958, in Brussels) is a Belgian hyperrealist painter. She has loved painting since childhood and studied philosophy to understand what painting is. She was influenced by French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, who wrote about perception, the body, and art. Her life blends philosophy (which she teaches) with painting. She kept her work mostly private until she was about forty, except for a 1995 TV appearance on The Arts at Large. She lives and works in Brussels.
