2023 in Philippine football
2023 was a landmark year for Philippine football. The Philippines played in the FIFA Women's World Cup for the first time, the first time a Philippine national team of any age or gender took part in the tournament. They opened against Switzerland and later earned their first World Cup win, beating co-host New Zealand 1-0. Sarina Bolden scored the 24th-minute winner, giving the Philippines its first World Cup goal. The Filipinas U17 team also qualified for the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup for the first time, set to be held in Indonesia in April 2024, after a 1-0 win over Vietnam. Isabella Preston scored the winning goal from a free kick in the 56th minute, making history for the Philippines.
