Spencerian College
Spencerian College was a private, for-profit career college with campuses in Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky. It opened in 1892 as the Spencerian Commercial School, founded by Enos Spencer.
In June 2018, Spencerian College merged its programs into Sullivan University and stopped operating as a separate college. Today, its degree and certificate programs are offered through Sullivan University's College of Allied Health and College of Nursing.
In 2013, the Kentucky Attorney General filed a consumer-protection lawsuit accusing Spencerian College of misrepresenting job placement data to lure students into loans. The suit contended that job placement figures shown to students differed from those reported to the accrediting body by as much as 40%. As part of the purchase, Sullivan University forgave $1.7 million in loans for 668 students who borrowed between 2007 and 2011.
