2007 West Somerset District Council election
On 3 May 2007, West Somerset District Council in Somerset, England held elections for all seats. Independents gained control of the council from the Conservatives. The Conservatives dropped to 13 seats, a loss of four, while independents held 16 seats and were the largest group. The Conservatives lost seats in Alcombe East, Old Cleeve, Porlock, Quantock Vale and West Quantock, but gained Watchet from an independent. Labour and the Liberal Democrats each lost one seat, leaving them with one councillor apiece. Turnout was 46.9%. After the election, independent Keith Ross became council leader, with Labour’s Simon Stokes as deputy leader.
