South West Syndicate
South West Syndicate (SWS) is an Australian hip-hop group from Sydney, formed in 1992. The collective includes artists from Aboriginal, Lebanese-Australian, Pacific Islander, Croatian, German and Anglo backgrounds. Core members were Munkimuk, Brothablack, Nasri Basal (Big Naz) and Darren Stacey (Dax), with other members such as Nadeena Dixon, Terrance Murphy, Kider, Ebony Williams, Danielle Tuwai, Mohammed Abdullah, Phil Pelia, Safwan Barbour and Fadi Chami. They were active from 1992 to 2003. In 2003 they won a Deadly Award for Most Promising New Talent in Music. They performed at many events, including Hip Hopera (1995), Survival, the Sydney Writers’ Festival, NAIDOC Week and Pacific-focused festivals.
