Liam Genockey, born 12 August 1948 in Dublin, is an Irish drummer best known for playing with the British folk rock band Steeleye Span. He grew up in Plymouth in the 1960s, where he played in local bands, then in the early 1970s he played with the Torbay-based Adolphus Rebirth. Genockey helped form the jazz-fusion group Zzebra, later joining Gillan with John McCoy. He also played with Trevor Watts’s Amalgam and later with Watts’s Moiré Music Ensemble.

Genockey joined Steeleye Span in 1989, recording the studio albums Tempted and Tried and Time, plus the live albums Tonight’s the Night...Live and The Collection in Concert. He left the band briefly from 1997 to 2001, then returned in 2001 to record Present – The Very Best of Steeleye Span and has stayed with them since. He also drums for Paul Brady in live and studio performances. In January 2003, he was involved in the BBC Four broadcast Free Will and Testament, featuring Robert Wyatt’s performances. Genockey is known for his long braided beard and lives in Hastings, East Sussex.
