2010–11 SV Werder Bremen season
The 2010–11 SV Werder Bremen season started on July 5 with the first training session at Weserstadion. Managed by Thomas Schaaf, the team played in the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, and the Champions League. They finished 13th in the Bundesliga, their worst finish in more than ten years, and were eliminated in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. In the Champions League, they reached the group stage. The league’s top scorers were Claudio Pizarro and Hugo Almeida with 9 goals each, while Pizarro was the club’s overall top scorer with 14 goals. A notable incident occurred after a 4–0 loss to Hamburger SV, when about 250 angry supporters blocked the team bus and demanded a face-to-face meeting with the coach and players.
