Royal Army Medical Service
The Royal Army Medical Service (RAMS) is the medical branch of the British Army. It was created on 15 November 2024 by combining three previous corps: the Royal Army Medical Corps (medical care), the Royal Army Dental Corps (dentistry), and the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps (nursing).
The move was part of a plan called Project Victoria, after King Charles’s approval in October 2024. RAMS provides health services for soldiers in both war and peace, including medicine, nursing, and dentistry.
The Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) remains a separate corps due to its different legal and combat status.
The official joining parade for RAMS was held on 15 November 2024 at Staff College, Camberley. The RAMS cap badge combines elements from the badges of the three former corps. RAMS’s motto is “Steadfast.”
