Rossford is a small city in Wood County, Ohio, in the Toledo area, located along the Maumee River. About 6,300 people live there (2020). It sits where Interstate 75 meets the Ohio Turnpike.

History and identity: Rossford began as a company town for the Edward Ford Plate Glass Company, connected to Libbey-Owens-Ford. The name combines Ford with his second wife’s last name, Caroline Ross. The Ford Club next to the plant gave workers a place to socialize. In 1998, Rossford celebrated its 100th anniversary with a memorial and community events.

Geography: The city covers about 5.3 square miles, mostly land with a small amount of water.

People: In 2010, there were about 6,293 residents and 2,568 households. The community was predominantly White, with a mix of other races. The median age was around 39. About half of households were married couples and roughly a third were individuals living alone.

Economy and services: Medical Mutual moved its Toledo office to Rossford in 2019, and Amazon operates a fulfillment center there. The Rossford Public Library and WPAY serve residents.
