Bondarsky District is an administrative and municipal district in Tambov Oblast, Russia. It sits in the northeast-central part of the oblast and borders Pichayevsky District to the north, Gavrilovsky District to the east, Rasskazovsky District to the south, and Tambovsky District to the west. The district covers 1,252.3 square kilometers. Its administrative center is Bondari, a rural locality.

Population: 13,191 (2010 census). The district is entirely rural (0% urban). It includes 8 selsoviets and 56 rural localities. Municipally, it is the Bondarsky Municipal District, with 0 urban settlements and 8 rural settlements.

Geography: Bondarsky District lies on the Oka–Don Lowland with small hills from the Volga Uplands on the east. The area is flat with some ravines and features steppe and forest-steppe vegetation. It has rich black soil suitable for farming, and the western part is forested. The district is about 25 km north–south and 50 km west–east in size.

Rivers: The Bolshoy Lomov flows through the district’s center, the Malaya Lomov runs through the east, and the Kersha flows through the west. These rivers drain into the Moksha River and eventually into the Volga.

Location: About 20 km northeast of Tambov city and 40 km south of Morshansk.

Climate: Humid continental climate (Dfb) with cold winters and warm summers. January average around -10°C, July around 20°C. Annual precipitation is about 550 mm, mostly from April to October.

Economy: The district is mainly agricultural. About 30% of farm revenue comes from crops and 70% from livestock (including dairy). The main crops are sunflower, barley, and wheat. Around 34,983 hectares (28%) of the district’s land are used for crops.

Settlements: The three largest settlements in early 2016 were Bondari (about 5,000 residents), Pahotnouglovsky (about 1,300), and Mitropolsky (about 1,157).
