Rodney White
Rodney Charles White (born June 28, 1980) is an American former professional basketball player. He grew up in Philadelphia and played college basketball for the Charlotte 49ers, earning ESPN’s national freshman of the year. He is 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighed about 240 pounds during his career.
White was the ninth overall pick in the 2001 NBA draft, selected by the Detroit Pistons. He played 16 games in his rookie season before the Pistons traded him to the Denver Nuggets in 2002. With Denver, he showed scoring ability but struggled with defense, averaging 7.7 points per game over 186 Nuggets games, with his best season at 9 points per game in 72 games during 2002–03. Late in the 2004–05 season, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he appeared in 16 games and averaged 5.1 points. His final NBA game was on April 20, 2005.
After leaving the NBA, White spent his career overseas and in other leagues. He played in Spain for Bàsquet Manresa and Lagun Aro Bilbao, in Italy for Scavolini Pesaro, and in China for the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. He also played in Puerto Rico for the Arecibo Captains and had a brief stint with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel in 2008. He later returned to Zhejiang Guangsha and had further stops in China, South Korea with Anyang KGC, and the Philippines with Barako Bull Energy and Petron Blaze Boosters from 2012 to 2013. White was the Chinese Basketball Association scoring champion in 2009.
