Dan Radakovich (American football)
Dan Radakovich (November 26, 1935 – February 20, 2020) was an American football coach with a 48-year career in college and professional football. Born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, he played center at Penn State and graduated in 1957. He began coaching at Penn State and stayed with the Nittany Lions through 1969. He then coached for Cincinnati in 1970 and joined the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1971. As the Steelers’ offensive line coach from 1974 to 1977, he helped the team win two Super Bowls (IX and X) and contributed to persuading Chuck Noll to draft Penn State running back Franco Harris.
Radakovich’s career also included coaching roles at various colleges and NFL teams, such as the Colorado Buffaloes, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, NC State, Denver Broncos, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and Cleveland Browns. He finished his coaching years with Robert Morris University, serving as defensive coordinator in 1994 and as an assistant from 1996 to 2007, and he also coached the London Monarchs in 1997. Dan Radakovich died in Moon, Pennsylvania, at age 84.
