Let Your Heart Dance with Me
Let Your Heart Dance with Me is a song by Swedish pop duo Roxette. It was released on 2 October 2020 as the second single from their compilation album Bag of Trix.
The song was written by Per Gessle and features vocals by Marie Fredriksson. It was originally recorded in 2016 for Roxette’s planned tenth studio album Good Karma but wasn’t finished in time. When Bag of Trix was made, the track was given its release.
A limited gold-colored 7" vinyl was issued, with only 1,500 copies worldwide. The B-side is a live recording of The Beatles’ Help! from Abbey Road Studios on 15 November 1995.
A music video for the track was released, using previously unseen footage from Gessle and Fredriksson’s private archives. It premiered on YouTube on 1 October 2020, followed by a live Q&A with Gessle.
This song is one of the last vocals Marie Fredriksson recorded for Roxette before her death in December 2019. She had health issues and stopped touring, but she gave this performance with great effort.
The track was mixed by Ronny Lahti and produced by Clarence Öfwerman, Christoffer Lundquist, Per Gessle, and Addeboy vs Cliff.
Critics described the song as light and optimistic. Aftonbladet called it easy to listen to, with hints of melancholy and a tribute to Marie. Rolling Stone Germany noted its sunny feeling despite Marie’s health problems. Classic Pop described it as summery and optimistic.
