Robert Boyd is an indie game developer from Lake Arrowhead, California, best known for co-founding Zeboyd Games with William Stiernberg. After Stiernberg left in 2023, Boyd continued to run the studio. Zeboyd specializes in short, retro-style 16-bit RPGs with a comedic edge that often parodies Lovecraftian horror.

The studio’s early releases were Epiphany In Spaaace! and Molly the Were-Zompire for Xbox Live Indie Games in 2009, later remastered for Windows as Molly the Werezompire in 2023. This was followed by Breath of Death VII: The Beginning (2010) and Cthulhu Saves the World (2010), both turn-based RPGs with witty writing and unique mechanics. Breath of Death VII sold well, and Cthulhu Saves the World received a PC/Xbox 360 enhanced edition funded by Kickstarter.

Zeboyd also contributed to the Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 (2012) and 4 (2013). In 2017 they released Cosmic Star Heroine, their original sci-fi RPG, which was later brought to PlayStation 4, PS Vita, Windows, and Nintendo Switch.

More recent titles include Cthulhu Saves Christmas (2019), a humorous prequel where Cthulhu teams up with Santa’s granddaughter, and This Way Madness Lies (2022), a Shakespeare-themed magical girl RPG for Windows. Across their work, Zeboyd Games is praised for writing, gameplay, and value, and Boyd has become known for advocating low prices in indie gaming.
