Steve Comisar, born December 30, 1961, is an American con artist who has been convicted of multiple frauds in federal court (1983, 1990, 1994). In 1999 he was arrested for swindling investors in a fake TV quiz show project promoted with Joe Namath and sentenced to 33 months in prison. Earlier in life he advertised a "solar powered clothes dryer" for $49.95, but buyers received only a length of clothesline. He was released from prison in 2018 and said he had reformed, using the alias Brett Champion to present himself as a fraud-prevention expert. He appeared on Dateline NBC and wrote America's Guide to Fraud Prevention under that name. Because of later convictions, he is not allowed to use that alias or claim to be a consumer fraud expert. His book is listed as "fraud history" by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is shown in their fraud museum.
