Richard Leveridge Hoxie (August 7, 1844 – April 29, 1930) was a brigadier general in the United States Army and an expert on fortifications. He was born in New York City and joined the Union Army during the Civil War, serving in the 1st Iowa Volunteer Infantry from 1861 to 1864. After the war, he graduated from the United States Military Academy and became a second lieutenant in 1868. He served mainly with the Army Corps of Engineers and retired as a brigadier general in 1908.

Hoxie married sculptor Vinnie Ream in 1878, and they had a son named Richard Ream Hoxie. Vinnie died in 1914, and Hoxie married Ruth Norcross in 1917. He died in Miami, Florida, on April 29, 1930, at age 85 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery alongside Vinnie and Ruth.
