Real Betis Cantera

Real Betis’ cantera is the club’s youth academy, where players are trained from childhood up to joining the senior teams. The top youth team is Juvenil A (under-18/19). The academy is based at Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol in Seville, which has a 4,000-seat capacity.

Players start at around age 8 (Benjamín level) and move up each year through Alevín, Infantil, Cadete, and Juvenil. After Juvenil A, the best talents usually join Betis Deportivo, the reserve team that plays in the adult league system (often Segunda División B). They can stay with Betis Deportivo for up to five years, sometimes with loan spells elsewhere, but the strongest players typically advance to the first team within about two seasons if they’re ready.

Betis’ youth system focuses on developing local talent in Andalusia, especially in Seville, with collaboration agreements with smaller local clubs. The club competes with city rivals Sevilla for the best prospects, and Sevilla’s academy has often been stronger in recent years.

The academy has produced players who helped Betis win the Copa del Rey in 2004–05 and others who later moved for big fees, such as Joaquín (to Valencia), Dani Ceballos (to Real Madrid), Fabián Ruiz (to Napoli), and Junior Firpo (to Barcelona).

Juvenil A plays in Division de Honor Juvenil, Group IV, with Sevilla and Málaga as main rivals. Juvenil B competes in Liga Nacional Juvenil. The teams also take part in the Copa de Campeones and Copa del Rey Juvenil; qualification for the UEFA Youth League is possible but has not yet happened.
