Christine Denniston
Christine Denniston (born 30 December 1963) is a British playwright, author and dance teacher who is well known for her tango work. She studied theoretical physics at the University of Cambridge. In April 2012, her one-act musical Before the Law, co-written with Gwyneth Herbert, won second place in the first Sidney Brown Memorial Award for Most Promising New Work, run by Mercury Musical Developments. Before the Law is adapted from Peter Barnes’s A Hand Witch of the Second Stage and is the companion piece to After Lydia, a one-act musical based on Terence Rattigan’s play, also co-written with Herbert for Sounds of England. After Lydia had a 45-minute reading at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London in March 2011, directed by Maria Friedman, and later had a staged reading at the Watermill Theatre in August 2012.
