R. Rathnavelu

R. Rathnavelu is an Indian cinematographer who mainly works in Tamil and Telugu films. He is known for movies such as Sethu, Nandhaa, Vaaranam Aayiram, Enthiran, 1: Nenokkadine, Rangasthalam, and Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. He has won many awards, including three Filmfare Awards South, four SIIMA Awards, the Vijay Award, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award, and the Kalaimamani Award from the Tamil Nadu government. Rathnavelu has a BSc in Physics and completed a three-year Diploma in Cinematography at the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute. He began his career by assisting cinematographer Rajiv Menon on Mani Ratnam's Bombay.
