Vikram Solanki
Vikram Singh Solanki (born 1 April 1976) is an English cricket coach and former first-class cricketer. Born in Udaipur, India, he moved to Wolverhampton at the age of eight. A right-handed batsman and occasional off-spinner, Solanki played for Worcestershire from 1995 to 2012, captaining the county from 2005 to 2010. He also spent a season with Rajasthan (2006/07) and finished his county career with Surrey (2013–2015). In international cricket, he represented England in 51 One Day Internationals between 2000 and 2006, scoring two centuries with a top score of 106. He became England’s first supersub in 2005, scoring 53 not out against Australia. Solanki retired from playing in 2015 and moved into coaching and cricket administration.
He has held several leadership roles off the field, including chairman of the Professional Cricketers’ Association and president of FICA in 2017. He returned to coaching with Surrey as deputy head in 2018 and became head coach in 2020. In 2019 he served as an assistant coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, and in 2022 he took up the role of Director of Cricket for the Gujarat Titans.
