Quest of the Space Beagle is a single-player action-adventure game designed by Scott Lamb. It was published by Avalon Hill Microcomputer Games for the Atari 8-bit line in 1984, with a Commodore 64 port released in 1985. The game is a sequel to Jupiter Mission 1999.

In Quest of the Space Beagle, you play through a collection of mini-games to find Earth again after a failed mission to Jupiter. The game was written in Atari BASIC.

The manual notes a graphics trick that alternates screens every 60th second to extend the Atari’s visuals, but this approach can cause flicker.

Reviews were mixed. Antic’s Michael Ciraolo felt there’s little incentive to reach the next level and found the game repetitive and the flicker annoying. Compute!’s Steve Hudson praised the programmers’ techniques and called one screen incredibly realistic.
