Widi Prasetijono, born on June 4, 1971, in Trenggalek, East Java, is an Indonesian army general. He grew up as the third of five children; his father was a retired soldier. After finishing school, he joined the Indonesian Military Academy and graduated in 1993 as an infantry officer. He trained with Kopassus, Indonesia’s special forces, and served in East Timor (1996) and Papua (2001). He rose through the ranks, commanding the 400th Raider Infantry Battalion in Semarang in 2009 and later leading the Surakarta Military District (2011–2012). His close ties with Jokowi, who was then mayor of Surakarta, helped his career, and he later served as Jokowi’s aide-de-camp when Jokowi became president in 2014.

Widi has held several major commands: the Siliwangi Military Command Training Regiment (2016–2017), the Warastratama Military Area in Central Java (2017–2019), and the East Kalimantan Military Area (2018–2020). He was promoted to brigadier general in 2019 and then served as chief of staff of the Diponegoro Regional Military Command in 2020. In January 2022 he briefly became commander of Kopassus, Indonesia’s special forces, before returning to Central Java to command the Diponegoro area in April 2022. In December 2023 he was appointed commander of the Army Doctrine, Education and Training Leadership Command and was promoted to lieutenant general in January 2024.

In December 2024 he was moved to the Indonesian National Defence University as a lecturer. In December 2025 he was investigated in a money-laundering case connected to a land deal in Cilacap; his wife was questioned about benefits she allegedly received. On December 15, 2025 the army chief of staff removed him from the university, and he left his post by year’s end. He is married to Novita Permatasari.
