Maches
St. Maches was a 6th-century princess and early saint from Cornwall and Devon. She was the sister of St. Cadog and the daughter of Saint Gwynllyw and Gwladys. She lived as a hermit and was killed by thieves at Merthyr Maches (Llanfaches) in the Kingdom of Gwent. She was buried at Caerwent by Saint Tathan, to whom the bandits had confessed the crime.
