Philostratus the Younger, also known as Philostratus of Lemnos (Ancient Greek: Φιλόστρατος ὁ Νεώτερος), was a Greek writer and teacher of the Roman empire, active in the 3rd century AD. He is best known for the second collection of Imagines, a work about portraits, though not all of it survives. In his preface he praises his mother's father, who wrote the first collection of Imagines; this elder Philostratus is often called Philostratus of Lemnos and was the son-in-law of the famous Philostratus of Athens. The dates of the Younger’s activity are uncertain, usually dated from about 250 to 300 AD. If the earlier date is correct, he may be the same person who served as archon of Athens in 255 AD.
