SITRAS, the Southern Integrated Transportation System, is Ponce, Puerto Rico’s public bus network. It opened on February 14, 2012 to replace much of the old shared taxi system and to provide reliable, scheduled service that runs in the evenings and on weekends. It is run by the Autonomous Municipality of Ponce and was designed to complement the existing “públicos” taxis rather than replace them entirely.

Starting with 11 buses on three routes, SITRAS has grown to about 30 buses on eight routes, with more than 300 stops and 28 destinations in the Ponce metro area. The system uses Terminal Carlos Garay as its main depot and features a central hub at Centro de Informacion and Dora Colón Clavell Park. A tourism trolley began in 2016 to highlight the city’s sights and connect with SITRAS. Rides are free. Management has changed over time, with Jessica Sinigaglia García leading from 2012 to 2020 and Jean Paul González Santini taking over in 2022.
