The Perelman Performing Arts Center, also known as PAC NYC or 6 World Trade Center, is a flexible performing arts venue at the northeast corner of the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. It sits where Vesey, Fulton, and Greenwich Streets meet, within the World Trade Center complex.

The center opened on September 13, 2023, after years of planning and construction. The project cost about $560 million. It is funded in part by Ronald O. Perelman, who donated $75 million for construction and endowment. The Port Authority owns the building, with additional funding from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation and other supporters.

Architects Joshua Ramus of REX and Davis Brody Bond led the design, with Magnusson Klemencic Associates as the structural engineer. The building sits on a black granite pedestal and features a striking facade of about 5,000 veined Portuguese marble panels that glow amber at night. The exterior has no windows, a choice made to keep the memorial area nearby quiet.

The center covers about 90,000 square feet over three floors. On the top floor are three theaters: the largest Zuccotti Theater with 450 seats, a 250-seat theater named after Mike Nichols, and a 99-seat space named after Doris Duke. The theaters can be rearranged in many configurations, and together they can accommodate roughly 1,000 to 1,200 people. Special construction features allow walls to rotate and floors to flex, with large doors that can move heavy sections between spaces.

The ground floor includes a restaurant and bar for intermissions, while the second floor houses rehearsal and dressing rooms for performers.

Construction began in August 2017, with the PATH rail improvements nearby enabling work. The building topped out in 2020, and the venue officially opened in 2023. A ribbon-cutting ceremony occurred on September 13, 2023, with the first public performance planned for September 19.

PAC NYC, as the brand is often called, aims to host dance, music, theatre, opera, and film. The Metropolis restaurant by Marcus Samuelsson opened at the center in November 2023. In its first season, the venue hosted diverse programs including Trinity Church Wall Street’s Refuge concert series, a piano recital by Mahani Teave, the opera Watch Night, and Cats: The Jellicle Ball.

The project enlisted notable collaborators, including Rockwell Group for restaurant and lobby interiors and Charcoalblue for theater design. It won several design awards and is regarded as a new cultural beacon at the World Trade Center site, inviting visitors to come for performances and experiences as part of New York City’s arts scene.
