Accelerated phase chronic myelogenous leukemia
Accelerated phase chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a more advanced, progressing stage of CML. It can cause fever, bone pain, and an enlarged spleen. Treatments such as imatinib, dasatinib, and nilotinib can help many patients improve blood counts (hematologic response) and abnormal chromosomes (cytogenetic response). Despite these responses, prognosis is poor in this phase, and the disease behaves similarly to acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
