Lybagh
Lybagh is a mountain in County Wicklow, in the province of Leinster, Ireland. It rises to 683 metres (2,241 feet) and is classified as a Hewitt. It sits in the Wicklow Mountains and is the high point of the Lybagh townland in the Ballinguile electoral division, Kiltegan civil parish, Ballinacor South barony.
Lybagh lies about 2.9 kilometres south of Lugnaquilla, the highest mountain on Ireland’s east coast (925 metres). The surrounding land is mostly hilly and grassland, and the area around Lybagh is uninhabited. The nearest villages are Rathdangan and Kiltegan, with Baltinglass about 15 kilometres to the west.
The Irish name for Lybagh is Leadhbach, meaning “the long strip of poor land,” a name first noted in the 1839 Ordnance Survey.
The River Derreen rises on the southern slopes of Lybagh and Slievemaan and flows southwest to join the River Slaney in County Carlow.
Climate: The area has a coastal climate, with an average temperature around 6°C. The warmest month is June (about 14°C) and the coldest is January (about 1°C).
