Omid Noorafkan is an Iranian footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or left-back for Sepahan and the Iran national team. Born on 9 April 1997 in Rey, Iran, he started his football journey with local youth teams before joining Esteghlal’s youth system in 2012.

He burst onto the first team in 2015, becoming the youngest player to appear for Esteghlal at the time, at 18 years and 271 days. Initially used as a left-back due to team needs, Noorafkan soon moved to defensive midfield, where he found his best position. He scored his first professional goals in 2017 and helped Esteghlal reach the Hazfi Cup final and prosper in the AFC Champions League. He also played in the Tehran derby and earned praise for his performances.

In 2018, he moved to Belgium to join Charleroi. He later returned to Iran on loan with Esteghlal and then joined Sepahan on loan, before signing with Sepahan in 2020. In the 2024-25 season, he was loaned to Malavan.

Internationally, Noorafkan has represented Iran at multiple youth levels and debuted for the senior national team in 2018. He has accumulated dozens of caps and has competed in major youth tournaments, including captaining Iran’s U20 team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He was part of Iran’s squad that won the CAFA Nations Cup in 2023.

Off the pitch, Noorafkan comes from Rey and is an Azeri. He grew up watching German football, admires Bayern Munich, and idolizes former captain Philipp Lahm.
