Ambedkar International Center (AIC) is a nonprofit civil rights group in the United States. It was founded in June 2012 to fight caste discrimination and to promote dignity, equality, and democratic values in society. The center aims to unite and empower people from Dalit (SC), tribal (ST), and other backward class (OBC) communities in America. It is named after Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, a key Indian social reformer.

The headquarters are in Accokeek, Maryland, USA. The president is Sanjay Kumar and the vice president is Rakesh G. The group’s website is ambedkarinternationalcenter.org.

AIC works to end caste-based human rights violations and to build a fairer, more egalitarian society. It is part of a network of American Ambedkarite organizations that have worked on anti-caste lobbying for many years.

In 2013, AIC acquired a 13.2-acre property near Washington, DC, to establish the world’s first Ambedkar International Center in the West. The site was inaugurated on July 21, 2013, by former Chief Justice of India K. G. Balakrishnan.

The organization is governed by an executive council elected every two years. It has been active in US caste-issues, including protests and legal advocacy. For example, it supported actions related to caste discrimination cases in California and joined amicus briefs in court cases.

AIC has also supported concerns about civil rights in India, calling for action in high-profile cases and urging international attention. Beyond advocacy, the center has funded medical camps and awareness programs in many locations in India, and helped ship oxygen concentrators to Maharashtra.

In 2023, Seattle became the first U.S. city to ban caste-based discrimination, an effort AIC helped advocate for as part of its ongoing work against caste prejudice.
