Ottumwa Courier is a two-day daily newspaper in Ottumwa, Iowa, serving Wapello County and nearby areas. It publishes on Tuesday and Saturday and is owned by CNHI. The front page bills itself as “Southeast Iowa’s Best Newspaper.” Founded in 1848, it is Ottumwa’s oldest business and was a daily publication from 1865 until 2020.

The paper began as the flagship of A.W. Lee’s media company (later Lee Enterprises). It was sold to Liberty Publishing Group in 1999, then acquired by CNHI in 2001, which has owned it ever since. In May 2020, CNHI merged the Daily Iowegian into the Ottumwa Courier as part of cost-cutting during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2025, the Courier announced it would drop its Thursday edition due to rising print costs.

Current circulation is about 4,451 (April 2023). The newspaper’s offices are at 213 East Second Street, Ottumwa, IA 52501. Its sister papers are the Clinton Herald and The Oskaloosa Herald. The Ottumwa Courier maintains a website at ottumwacourier.com, with free online archives available through Advantage Preservation.
