It differs from its close relatives F. nobilissima and F. ivindoensis by the shape of its cap, the color and size of its pore surface, and its ecological niche. Taxonomy: Kingdom Fungi; Division Basidiomycota; Class Agaricomycetes; Order Hymenochaetales; Family Hymenochaetaceae; Genus Fomitiporia; Species gabonensis. Binomial name Fomitiporia gabonensis, described by Decock & Yombiyeni in 2010.
